Eyeshdow: pale blues

*** This is a scheduled post. I'm currently on holidays, living the high life in Malaysia and Singapore! ***

Hi again. This is a look from about a week ago. I was feeling lazy and my allergies were being complete and utter bastards, so this didn't turn out as nice as I would have liked. I used just one palette for this because I wanted a little colour without too much effort.

Eyeshadow: super-sparkly purple

*** This is a scheduled post. I'm currently on holidays, living the high life in Malaysia and Singapore! ***

Hi guys! This is my first attempt at posting while on holidays. Here's hoping it works! In this look I've used what I think is the sparkliest pressed eyeshadow I've ever encountered. It's gorgeous on so many levels, but isn't without its issues. I used more subtle shades with it because it's so flashy and doesn't need anything else to look amazing.

Nails: my first UV/gel/Shellac-type mani

Happy winter solstice to my southern hemisphere-dwelling readers and summer solstice for all you northerners! Today I have something totally new to me: UV nail polish. This is the stuff you paint on and then set under a UV lamp. I'm going overseas for a couple of weeks (leaving tomorrow) so I took up my friend's offer of a mani that's guaranteed to last (and look good) throughout the trip. She used products from an Aussie company called GlazeMe ( They have starter kits that include polish, a lamp, alcohol swabs, orange sticks and remover, along with a nice range of colours to choose from.

I stupidly didn't think to take photos of her setup, but if you look on the web site, you can see what the kits look like. The colour I'm wearing is Evergreen Envy and despite what my photo shows, there definitely is green in there and it's actually a lovely turquoise in real life. The thing that's awesome about these is that they work really similarly to the OPI and more expensive versions. Each of the GlazeMe polishes is under $10!

Eyeshadow: pale green shimmer

I was super lazy today so this was about all I could manage. Some days I get busy and start working before I even think about what I look like. I knew I had to duck out to the shops later, so I slapped on a minimal amount of makeup to feel presentable. I only used one eyeshadow: a cream Chanel number.

Eyeshadow: purple/burgundy

Today is another dark yet shimmery look, this time using Femme Fatale Cosmetics and Sleek. This is another one of my new FFC eyeshadows that I tried for the first time today. I also made an effort to use my Sleek Sparkle 2 palette again and was rewarded with awesomeness. Enough blab, here it is.

Eyeshadow: acid green & burgundy

I have a bright and dark look to share today. I also did something different by not wearing black on my waterline, which I usually do for darker looks. I like how it turned out, apart from the small amount of green eyeshadow I managed to deposit in my eye and stick to my contact lens. Nice. Slow clap for me. Anyway, here are the eyeshadows I used.

Nails: Essence Miss Universe

I have a quick nail polish post for you all today. It's a new one from Essence, which cost a measly $2.75. Bargain! It's a darkened teal shimmer: not a glitter, but not a regular shimmer either, since the shimmer particles are chunkier. However, it applied smoothly on the nail, unlike glitter.

Eyeshadow: dark green

Hey guys, as promised in my previous post, this is Femme Fatale Cosmetics ( Jewel Scarab on its own. Since I've been off the grid for a while, I'm not sure when this amazing eyeshadow came out, but I nabbed it a couple weeks ago and it's amazing. It's one of the most beautiful greens I've ever seen, leaning slightly towards teal.

Update: hiatus

Hi there guys. Not sure if there are any of you left, but if you're reading this, thanks for stopping by/sticking with me. The last couple of months have been hectic and stressful, with some health issues thrown in for good measure. Everything seems to have sorted itself out now, which is great. I feel so much better and I'm ready to get back to my love of makeup once again.

First of all, I had some good news. My colleagues and I would be working from home on a permanent basis! Awesome, right? Well, it is, but also getting everything sorted and set up was a lot of work. Packing, hauling crap home, backing up/setting up computers. You name it, it needed doing, all while getting our actual work done at the same time. So that kept me offline for about a month.

On top of all this, during the move, my hayfever went berserk. Perhaps it was the change of seasons as autumn set in, who knows? My eyes were the most affected and they watered nonstop. I literally couldn't wear eye makeup of any description: there just wasn't any point, since it all washed off within a couple of hours. I ended up taking an additional antihistamine each morning, which started working after about a week.

I then started wearing just a wash of cream eyeshadow (Maybelline Bad to the Bronze, I love you) to see how it went and whether it lasted. Once it did, I tentatively gave my Urban Decay Naked palettes a bit of love to see how powder eyeshadow went. Success! I went back to wearing brights and loose eyeshadows and everything seems to be good again. I've now been going for a week!

I've missed everything about blogging, but mainly interacting with other like-minded makeup fiends. I can't wait to see what you've been up to! I'm so excited to be back. I hope it's for good and as frequent as before (now that I'm working from home). Thanks for reading this rant and much love for hanging around.

P.S. Here's what I'm wearing today. New Femme Fatale Cosmetics eyeshadows!

You can't tell since I'm wearing it in my crease, but this could be the most amazing green eyeshadow I've ever seen. I'll have to try wearing it on the lid. Stay tuned. :)
